East-siders: bummed that you have to wait til next year to check out a flick on our side of town? Well, rejoice! The SoHo-based Angelika Theatre, which will officially be opening in the Union Market area in 2015, is hosting a pop-up theater experience starting June 13th. They’re converting a warehouse into a three-screen theater, and will also be serving a sampling of the gourmet snacks and beverages that the theater will offer when it’s fully open. The warehouse is located at 550 Penn Street NE, Unit E – next door to the Dolcezza Gelato factory. Per the website, the pop-up’s menu will feature “A selection of gourmet packaged snack foods and drinks including Rosemary Truffle Popcorn, Crunchy Kale Chips, Maple Bacon Chuao Chocolate Bars, Intelligentsia Coffee, and a selection of craft bottled beers and wines, curated by former Food Network executive Bruce Seidel (Hot Lemon Productions) and former Food Network chef Santos Loo.”

The pop-up will run until the actual theater opens next year. Check out the Angelika Pop Up website for information on showtimes, tickets and more.
