Three new restaurants are opening in Shaw this week:
Baby Wale: the casual little brother to long-time fine-dining favorite, Corduroy, opens next door to its big brother on 9th between L and P. More at www.babywaledc.com, 202-450-3311
Thally: The 70-seat Modern American restaurant comes from a team of DC restaurant industry veteran. It will be opening at 1316 9th street, with a “simple, fresh, and flavorful” menu. www.Thallydc.com, 202-733-3849
Mandalay: In more exotic news, Burmese restaurant Mandalay will open at 1501 9th street. This offshoot of Silver Spring’s Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe will offer a chef’s menu at dinner, including “dishes not available at any other restaurant in the United States. www.mandalaydc.com, 202-644-8806
This Friday, Mayor Gray will go on a sprint-ribbon-cutting spree and officially open all three restaurants, beginning at Baby Wale at 2pm.
